Personal finance.Can social security benefits be affected in view of present economic crisis?

tell me asked:


I am 61. We are told there will be no Soc sec benifits after 2020 or near there.
Can the benefits stop earlier due to all this mess?

   No SS is funded without changing anything through 2020. But before that time someone will have to be brave enough to step up and say “this is what we have to do to save the system”. SS has been the third rail of politics to too long. Don’t worry it will be there for you but I wouldn’t count on it for your grand kids.
